A Guide for Medical Interpreter
Effective communication between patients and our staffs is necessary for providing safe and high-quality medical care under our fundamental policies. Medical interpreters help patients who are non- or limited Japanese proficiency. As patients or our staffs need, medical interpreters are arranged by appointment and remunerated on a per-hour basis as follows. We kindly ask for your understanding as they may be unavailable depending on the hours or on languages.
Following a revision of the university regulations, the following fees shall apply from April 2026.

- In-person medical interpretation: Chinese and English Remote interpretation: (Video) Chinese, English, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese and Nepali (Telephone)Chinese, English, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Thai, Tagalog, Nepali, Indonesian, Malay, Myanmar, Russian, French, German, Italian, Khmer, Mongolian, Sinhal, Hindi and Bengali
- Please note that an interpreter who meets your requirements may sometimes be unavailable.
- In case of in-person, the cancelation fee will be charged after 11am on the day before your appointment. (¥9,000 ※Regardless of Japanese public health insurance status.)

- 1. These regulations shall come into effect on July 1, 2014.
- 2. Part of these regulations has been revised, and the revised provisions shall come into effect on April 1, 2026.
- 3. Medical interpretation includes both in-person interpretation and remote medical interpretation (video and telephone).
